Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve

The 4000 ha Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve is located just 12 km of outside Victoria Falls town on the road to the airport. Established in 1996, it is a conservation success story, founded on a vision to sustain and support the area’s rich natural heritage. Fences were set up in 2000 and the reserve became a designated rhino Intensive Protection Zone (IPZ) with a monitoring and breeding programme, as well as Anti-Poaching Unit & Ranger Training Facility.

Nature & Wildlife:

The reserve is on the edge of the basalt and Kalahari sands systems and hosts diverse habitats such as mopane-dominated woodlands, teak forests and open savanna. The reserve holds a notable population of critically endangered Black Rhinos, Lions, African Elephants, and more iconic game such as the rare Sable Antelope. Unique activities within the game reserve are black rhino safaris, the only walking safaris in Victoria Falls. The reserve offers guided day drives but does not allow self-drive.

Birdlife:

The birdlife is similar as the shrubland of adjacent Zambezi National Park. You can expect typical species such as Helmeted Guineafowl, Swainson’s Spurfowl, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Gray Go-away-bird, African Harrier-Hawk, Red-faced Mousebird, Lilac-breasted Roller, Magpie Shrike, Meves’s Starling, Red-headed Quelea or Red-billed Firefinch.
